Last night on KCALs news, there was a health segment on the hot new trend of bee sting therapy in which reporter Lisa Sigell rather gleefully told of people paying to have the insects placed on their bodies and forced into stinging them, presumably because the pain of it provides relief from some form of illness. Of course the poor bees die afterward, so from my professional perspective, I dont see it as a radical new temporarytreatment for people, I see it as permanently inhumane treatment of the bee -- not to mention a great reminder as to how exploitive we are as species. Whether destroying one bee at a time in a clinic or through global colony collapse: we suck.
