Last night the kids were watching a movie so I decided to take - TopicsExpress

Last night the kids were watching a movie so I decided to take advantage of the situation and start exercising quietly on the floor near by (we were all in the living room). As soon as the kids noticed me they jumped up. I looked at them and asked them what the problem was and they were responded with I wanna exercise mommy!! They were begging me to let them join. Why? Because every now and then the kids like to join in when we exercise but a couple days ago we started playing along. Instead of just ignoring them in the background and focusing on ourselves, we made it a fun game. We were all stretched out on the floor laughing by the end and I had realized that I had found yet another way for us to bond and grow as a family. I wanted the kids to develop our health habits for themselves but I didnt think about amercing them into it purposefully, making it fun or teaching them how to exercise properly. So now, our workout sessions will be a family effort.... all the way down to our seven year old (though, obviously their exercises are modified and I do know CPR. Just to let you know. Im not going to hurt my babies.) I told this story to tell you to find things to help your family bond. We have devotional, we watch movies, we go out together, we clean together, we garden and now we exercise together. These things build up communication between parent and child and they are positive aesthetic outlets that children need to grow up emotionally stable. Yesterday we sat outside in the backyard and painted together. Why? Because I wanted to paint and I wanted them to have fun doing something different. Im giving that (art) to them as a gift that will continue to bless them throughout their lives (more than any toy ever could). Find things to do with your children and find ways to include them in your relaxation. They need stress relief too.
