Last time I did a team AR was this one (XPD) in 2010... Last time I paddled or rode a mountain bike was 2011. Im 52yo. I have had a back injury and am recovering from a shoulder injury. My mountain bike is no more.... I dont know if my back (or shoulder) can handle long hours of paddling OR riding OR carrying 10+kg packs for days on end anymore.. I can run though... Im in great health generally.. I have time to train... I have the desire... I have an awareness of the passage of time and my ability to do certain things before certain things become too crazy for me.... It all starts in 10 days with GOW100 when I see where I am at physically and mentally. After that there will be some decisions to be made and most likely actions to take.... July 2016 is locked in in my mind.... Transpyrenees. The hardest thing Ill have ever done I dare say.... I have a long time to prepare and many things I can do to test myself in that lead up of preparation .... Then theres this... Id dismissed this one a couple of months ago...decided it foolish and as impractical to try for in the time I have...with the shoulder still not strong or fully mobile... Silly to consider it at all..... But is it? Or is it an excuse? How do I know unless I at least TRY to see how I go paddling and biking? Am I spreading myself too thin? Should I just focus on ultras at least until after Transpyrenees? Give my full focus to multi day hikes and running in the Alps? Or seize this opportunity too... To race in Queensland where the climate suits me, while Im still young enough to dare consider it...and because I have a dear friend who is keen to put in an all female team...and have fun! Oh so many things... I need some shonky car dealer to come wind my speedo back :) xpd.au/?utm_source=2nd+XPD+Info+Nights&utm_campaign=XPD+info+nights&utm_medium=email
