Last week while in Panama I was having symptoms of congestive - TopicsExpress

Last week while in Panama I was having symptoms of congestive heart failure. Didnt want to alarm the NU students or program director, so by the end of the week I modified my field protocol to just lectures - no field work - while hoping to make it home (The show must go on - in this case, a VERY dumb idea by the way). Made it home and special thanks to both the Keene and Lebanon Dartmouth - Hitchcock Hospitals for their quick diagnostics, care, and keeping me in the loop of all tests. The good news, the catherization showed NO blockages, so this looks like genetics vs French fries. I do have a clot w/ sibling clots in my LV due to the weakened heart muscle not pushing the blood thru the LV. I am fine and learning more anatomy/ physiology w/ practical applications. Already lost 23 lbs of fluids and feeling much better. Still hospitalized but my cardio team is working hard on getting my home with the proper meds, etc ... As a side note, during my catherization, the Dr was firing questions to his med students. I just had to join in! Ha! The Doc and students enjoyed that their patient (me) was getting involved with the quiz as well. All for now ...
