Latest News | News Break Nigeria A medical doctor, an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and two other people have been arrested by the police in Delta State for their role in a case child theft case and attempted murder. Their arrest was effected after Mrs. Ifowe Justus reported to the police that her sister, Favour Ifowe from Isoko and her sister’s three-year-old son were abducted by her sister’s boyfriend, one Prince Josiah from Osusu, Ngwa, Abia State, and his accomplices. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the story said the DPO, GRA Asaba SP Uzochukwu Ugwuanyi and his team of detectives swung into action and arrested the Josiah. “The suspect confessed to the crime and led detectives to Isiala-Ngwa in Abia State where his cohorts one Ogbonna Eleazer, a Civil Defence personnel attached to Abia Command, Dr. Nwabueze Ishmael and Veronica Kalaoru from Bayelsa State were arrested and the stolen child was rescued,” she said. The PPRO said preliminary investigation showed that Josiah and one Obinna tricked Favour Ifowe and her son to Aba, Abia State, collected and sold the son and attempted to kill her by strangulation. She said the suspects had taken Favour and her son, Ezra Obiri to unknown place, from where they were eventually taken to Aba. Kalu said investigation was in progress, while efforts are on to arrest other suspects mentioned in connection with the crime. The suspects will be charged at the end of investigation, she added.
