Now, were looking for someone to take our reputation further still. The Role The role of Technical Specialist, Server Operations is based within the Enterprise Services Team. Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Services. The role addresses tasks focusing on the day to day operational issues and working as required as a project resource within technical infrastructure projects delivered from Lloyds strategic and tactical portfolio of work. What Will You Do? The Technical Specialist will be involved in: • Maintain and improve the Lloyds HPC Grid service through proactive monitoring and task automation; • The day to day resolution of incidents or effecting approved changes covering items such as email, servers, backups and storage management to meet SLAs. • Acting as a resource on Lloyds infrastructure projects. • Supporting the day to day operations in the context of ˜business as usual (BAU). • Provide technical direction and construct, test and implement a wide range of solutions that enable and support business functions. • Secure and maintain server based applications within the Windows Server 2008/2012 environment. • Microsoft Operational toolsets use and knowledge. (SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM, DPM, DCM, SCORCH) • Define scope, plans and deliverables for assigned work. • Test solutions to ensure that both changes and new work meet the business needs and expectations. • Monitor daily performance to identify server management problems using appropriate software tools. • Investigate and resolve problems as required, specifically in relation to server management. • Use appropriate tools to analyse, identify and resolve technical problems. • Implement approved standard server solution, upgrades, enhancements and conversions. • Maintain security, integrity and business resilience controls and documents. • Gain knowledge on emerging tools, techniques and technologies. • Producing good quality and timely documentation for all Server Operations tasks . • Ensure all activities are carried out within defined processes and procedures What Youll Need *Experience of large-scale automation of infrastructure management, including monitoring; *Experience of setting up service monitoring tools (ideally SCOM); *Experience of orchestration of automated resolution of incidents (ideally Microsoft Orchestrator); *Experience of working in a support capacity in a senior hands-on role, providing support to both internally developed and third party provided applications and Infrastructure; *Advanced PowerShell (or similar) scripting ability *Conceptual Thinking Acquiring understanding of the underlying issues in complex problems or situations by correctly relating these to simpler or better understood concepts, models or previous experiences *Cross-Functional and Inter-Disciplinary Awareness Understanding the needs, objectives and constraints of those in other disciplines and functions *Flexibility Taking account of new information or changed circumstances and modifying understanding of a problem or situation accordingly *Information Acquisition Identifying gaps in the available information required to understand a problem or situation and devising means of remedying such gaps . *Organisational Awareness Understanding the hierarchy and culture of own, customer and supplier organisations and being able to identify the decision makers and influencers *Application Systems Proficient in the application of automated systems to the support of specific business functions or processes *Business Analysis Techniques Proficient in techniques which help understanding a business and its operation *Operating Infrastructure Proficient in knowledge of the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) used within own organisation *Configuration Management Aware of the control and management of IT assets (or configuration items) including hardware, software, documentation, services, suppliers and network facilities by the use and application of strict change management and recording *Customer Service Techniques Proficient in Techniques for ensuring that full account is taken of customers real and stated needs in the delivery of products and services *Project Management Proven ability to manage a project to completion, within the time, quality and budgetary constraint sets down Knowledge *Experience of working in a support capacity in a senior hands-on role, providing support to both internally developed and third party provided applications and Infrastructure. *Awareness of the ITIL framework, specifically Change and Configuration Management *Experience of working within Windows Server 2008/12, Windows 7, MS SQL 2008-2012 *Active Directory Configuration and Management *Virtualisation technologies including. vmWare and Hyper-V Date posted: 21/01//2015
