Lavar Oliver was my closest friend in life. His death last - TopicsExpress

Lavar Oliver was my closest friend in life. His death last February 10,2014 at the age of 33 has put me into a recurrent disabling depression for months. He was a very camera shy person. He hated being photographed & removed nearly all the photos I had of him in my three computers. Only a few, not marked, survived. About a month ago, I discovered an ancient video featuring Lavar from around 2005 which had survived because it had been left labeled My Great Movie #1--obviously a left over from my first days working with Apple iMovie. Every friend, no matter their age or professional level, was impressed by Lavar oliver. He had all the social skills I somehow missed developing in life. I try to explain to friends who didt know him as well about how smooth, how intelligent, how perceptive he was. They could not really understand. Then, I found a highly compacted 16-minute episode in which i filmed Lavar describing his experiences going out to help Greg Singer, another filmmaker who was shooting footage about the roving crowds of yuppies which prowl our local Hoboken, N.J. streets on weekend nights. Watching it was like having Lavar come back to life for a short real-life visit. I have to try finding the original tape--if it still exists since this is a small compressed file. Meanwhile, Ill share this wonderful visit by the video-ghost of Lavar Oliver here. I debated doing this, It is going to tear some people apart. However, when one mutual friend laughed & so enjoyed Lavar description his nights adventure as a volunteer filmmakers assistant, I knew I should share it with others. This video, so far as I know, is the only record showing Lavar Oliver as those few of us knew him, so genteel, so warm, so insightful, so wonderful.
