Le Figaro ran an in interesting story this morning about the state of churches in Paris which, since 1905, have been under the care of the city, part of the law that declared all religious buildings property of state or local governments. Two case studies for this group of churches, Saint-Merri and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, are included on the 2014 #WorldMonumentsWatch. Like many significant but lesser-known churches, they do not have adequate maintenance and conservation resources.
