Thinking about joining a team? The UBC SailBot team has won the International Robotic Sailing Regatta three years in a row, so we decided to take on a new challenge this year, sailing the Atlantic Ocean completely autonomously. Our preparations for this transatlantic race, the Mircotransat Challenge, will certainly impact research and application in fields like marine robotics, energy efficiency and composite materials (to mention a few) at a global scale. We need your help with this challenge; please consider joining our team. You will get hands-on experience in creating an advanced electronics package involving some of the best sensors around, marine-grade solar panels, high-capacity batteries, and embedded programming around. These are just a few of the companies our students have been involved with following their commitment at UBC SailBot: - Tesla Motors - Recon Instruments - General Electric - Hydro One - Spacelist - Ballard Power Systems - Expedia - Alcatel-Lucent and much more Students on the UBC SailBot team work with 40 fellow UBC students and our industry mentor and yacht designer Don Martin to design, manufacture, test, and race high-performance robotic sailboats. I have had some extraordinary experiences with the team as we have perfected our designs, tested our skills directly on the water, and travelled to competitions together. If you are interested in joining us please contact me at [email protected] . I also encourage you to check out our website atubcsailbot.org and our Facebook page facebook/ubcsailbot.
