Le sigh. Ok, its a chronic fact, a good portion of Facebook consists of shared posts, photos, quizzes, webpages etc. Also a fact that Facebook itself is an advertising mecca, people and companies that want to be seen get their pages shared by us commoners, and our friends tell their friends, and their friends tell their friends, and stuff gets popular, or sold, or builds a reputation as either respectable or trendy. I share what quirks my interest, for whatever reason. I realise that if I repost something from Upworthy or George Takei or mykitchenwand or wherever, the link back to them is going to get their ratings up, and feed their advertising or publicity or reputation... and thats cool because I like what they do and I like what they share and I figure it all evens out. Shit like Repost if youd help someone you love or Repost if youd do the right thing or Repost if you have a heart, on the other hand, is designed for nothing more than to generate numbers through passive aggressive guilting, and only rarely will I ever repost that shit. If I click like on your sharing of such a post, Im in essence saying I like that you think this important. If I dont share it, it isnt that i dont agree with the essential sentiment or thought, its that I refuse to reward the company, or public figure, or individual for deliberately and blatantly attempting to manipulate the unwary and caring masses. FOAD.
