Learn to love now. Today we look at verses 22-25 of 1 Peter - TopicsExpress

Learn to love now. Today we look at verses 22-25 of 1 Peter 1 22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you. Meaning – On the surface, Peter is saying that we should love our brother or sister in Christ, and that we should love them deeply. But, when you combine that with the statement that he makes about the fact that we have been born again by the eternal enduring Word of God, then there is a deeper meaning to the “love your brother or sister deeply” phrase. Peter is saying that we should learn to love our brother or sister now, inferring that we will spend eternity with them. We won’t hold grudges in Heaven, so we might want to start that practice here. Also notice that we are born again, saved or regenerated by the Word of God – the ever enduring Word of God. As Christians, we have one source for what we believe and what we do – the Word of God, or the Bible. It is through what God has written in the Bible that we find the reason we can claim to be a child of God and we can have assurance of eternity in Heaven with Christ. Calling the Bible God’s Manual doesn’t do it justice. It is far more than that, but it is the manual for life that God has given to us. Application – Two things for us today. Learn to love you brother or sister in Christ today. We judge each other because of past wrongs that someone has done. That same person that you want to judge for whatever they have done, that very same person will be standing right beside you in Heaven. If they have been born again, they certainly will. Imagine, that person that you avoid and won’t speak to – yeah that person – imagine them standing right next to you as we sing a new song in Heaven. Love your brother or sister in Christ. Settle differences with them quickly. Encourage and build up your fellow Believer whenever you get opportunity. See a brother or sister in need, meet that need. Be the hands, feet and mouth of Jesus to your brothers and sisters in Christ. Also, since our salvation comes from the Word of God, take the time to get to know the Bible. Spend time in the Word of God getting to know the God of the Word better. Hope you have a great Tuesday. Please share this post so your friends can enjoy it as well.
