We must seize upon the momentum and eliminate all federal and state mandated tests NOW! Dear Friends, I hope and pray that this courageous event that took place in Lee County, serves as a model for all Florida Schools to follow. A couple of great quotes that came out of tonights board meeting went something like this: We are tired of words - it is time for action. If we dont do this now, we will be sitting here a year from now and having the same debate. Let the teachers teach, and let the students learn! How profound! To the federal and state bureaucrats who are extorting and abusing our kids, as well as destroying their personal and family privacy, for their own political and financial gain, we want action! Remove Florida from the AIR test and all federal and state mandatory testing! We had the highest literacy rate in the world BEFORE mandatory standardized testing, and we dont want all the psychological manipulation and brain washing associated with these politically correct tests which reward our children for group think and punish them for being individuals. Forgive me for being a little nostalgic (and showing my age!), but this is the song that came to mind today when I got this news.
