Lesson s from Loop Road Baptist Church 7.7.13 “But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:39 (NASB) “I’m glad I’m not one of those people!” Have you ever said that about someone or some group of people? Have you ever been happy that you were not of a certain type of person? I would have to say that most of the time we use this phrase it is for the wrong reason. When we say this we are most of the time making a judgment on a person or a group of people. We are not to judge! However, as the writer of Hebrews states, as Christians we can be proud that we are not without salvation! We are to be proud that we are not under destruction but we are under grace! Our life is an everlasting life with Jesus Christ because of our faith in His cleansing power! By not being “one of those” who are without salvation means that we are to lead them unto salvation. We are to look for those who are lost, without Christ, and bring them to Him. We are not to sit back in judgment and never get close to them. We are to reach out and take them by the hand leading them to Jesus. How can we do this, you ask? Because of our faith in God and our faith in Jesus Christ! Our faith in Jesus Christ has preserved our soul! Our faith has ensured us a place in God’s eternal home which is in heaven! But we cannot just sit on our salvation and do nothing. We must get out of our pews and into our streets in order to find those who do not have Jesus in their lives. If we sit and do nothing then we are shrinking back into destruction. Our faith is the only reason we get up in the mornings. Without faith in Jesus Christ we have nothing to look forward to. But on the other hand, because of our faith in Jesus Christ we have all eternity to look forward to! And eternity with God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son! Don’t judge! Seek and save! Dr. Rory M.
