★ Let go and let yourself soar high Let me begin by asking you a simple question. How happy are you in what you’re doing? Have you ever felt that you are not utilizing your full potential? Do you feel that every time you want to take a step in a new direction, something is pulling you back? Well, you are not alone! A large percentage of the population falls under this category. Of course, this doesn’t mean you are idling your time or wasting your potential. However, in all probability you could be under-using your resources. By the grace of God we are all blessed with infinite number of talents and capabilities, most of which we are not even aware of simply because we haven’t tried. And why don’t we try to tap our every potential? Because, it’s that something that tugs us back every time we set out to do something new or different. And that something is nothing but our comfort zone! A very famous king was once gifted 2 falcons by the king of the neighboring kingdom. These rare peregrine falcons were a thing of beauty and pride. The king handed over the falcons to the head trainer. After several months he noticed one of the falcons majestically soaring high in the sky while the other falcon made no attempt to fly. The king was concerned and so he immediately summoned the world’s best healers and wizards to make the big bird fly. However, all their attempts were futile; the falcon refused to budge from the branch. The king then presented the task to one of his court members announcing a huge reward too if was successful. A few days later the king saw that the falcon was still perched on the branch. He thought for a while and then decided that someone more familiar with the countryside may be able to help. So a farmer was summoned and entrusted with the so far unsuccessful task. However, the very next day the king saw the falcon flying gracefully in the sky. He was so delighted that he couldn’t wait to hear how the farmer had done it. He summoned him to court and asked him about his feat and the farmer replied, “It was easy, your highness. I simply cut off the branch the bird was perched on.” We consciously limit utilization of our resources because we are scared to try something new, we prefer to stay in our zone of comfort. Some people however, are not even aware of what they’re capable of because of the conditioning of their mind. These people believe others more than they do themselves. Therefore, if somebody tells them “You cannot achieve success in this field”, they would blindly trust their words without even trying. We all can fly; but we must believe in our own potential and be willing to try until we succeed. We too can soar high if we cut the noose of comfort and take the first step to success.
