Lets play Guess the Denomination Game. Which group did I quote this from? [and do you think of them as part of the Lords Church as it is often called] However, baptism is much more than a ceremony. Baptism is the Christians figurative re-enactment of Christs death, burial and resurrection. As Paul writes, We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life (Romans 6:4). So Jesus death on the cross becomes ours at baptism... When Jesus was resurrected to eternal life, He walked in a new world. Similarly, as one is baptized, the old life spiritually drowns. When we rise, we share in Christs walk, anticipating that world He is preparing for us. At conversion, a new power generates obedience to God. Our conscience, previously desensitized to sin and rebellious toward God (Acts 7:51), becomes enlightened by His Spirit. Then, God and his grace actively work in us to enable us to walk in Jesus steps (Philippians 2:13).
