Lets take a moment to remember the legendary Dick Giordano (July 20, 1932 – March 27, 2010), one of comics greatest editors and artists. Dicks editing of the Charlton action heroes and his art for Sarge Steel made an early impact on me. When he moved over to DC Comics the first time, he did some amazing work and was very kind to a fan (me) who wanted to write comics professionally. His many kindnesses continued after I went to work for Marvel Comics and, later, for DC. Dick was an all-around good guy, a friend, a mentor, and a teacher to myself and many others. He was a guy who loved comics and comics people and, as much as anyone could, tried to do right by them. I didnt always agree with him on every issue, but I never once thought he made his decisions lightly or out of malice. I loved the guy and I miss him to this day.
