Letter I forward to my State Representatives which pertains to the current budget crisis. I encourage you to contact your representative at app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/ to negotiate a budget. ____________________________ The Washington State Legislature is to assemble to debated, amend, repeal and pass laws. In addition, a pertinent duty of legislature is adoption and passage of a state budget. "Adoption of the omnibus appropriation bill or bills by the legislature shall constitute adoption of the budget and the making of appropriations therefor. A budget for the state government shall be finally adopted not later than thirty calendar days prior to the beginning of the ensuing biennium. RCW 43.88.080 Conversely, lawmakers most fundamental task to approve a budget which keeps our state government functional have styled political dysfunction. Particularly, I ask our representatives to stand strong in policies but add emphasis to their "Oath of Office." ". . . I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of the state of Washington, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of (name of office) to the best of my ability." RCW 43.01.020 As responsible stewards of our state government ask yourselves! Should Governor Inslee had to convene a Second Special Session for the purpose of enacting legislature to address the passage of an operating and capital budget? Surely, your constituents may answer, NO. Therefore, force through contentious policies and work for your constituents to pass a functional budget. Thank you for your consideration.
