As I read the records, my grandmother, Carrie Effie Long, born 1873 in Carbondale, Kansas, who married Jacob Biersch, was the child of David Hubb Long and Mary E. Stovall, who was born in 1851 in Henderson County, Illinois. Mary Stovalls mothers maiden name was apparently Sarah Ann Vandergrift, born in Georgia on an unknown date. I can go back no further on the maternal line. The records are much better for dogs and horses. My grandmother had a sister who married a man named Baldwin. She had a daughter, Mary Lucille Baldwin in 1909, who married a man named Meroness. Sorry, no royalty or nobility in the recent maternal lineage. But take comfort.
