Life, truly is a boomerang. So in my 20 years living in Noida/ Delhi, Ive had a minor accident, my car has had a flat tyre at all odds and different roads around here and has broken down once at one of the busiest roads in Delhi, the Ring road at the peak of traffic hours. And every time anything happened to the car.....never....and I mean never did I witness anyone even stopping for a few seconds and asking if I needed help. Not even when I pushed my broken down car from one corner to another at Ring road, making sure this issue doesnt cause any traffic obstruction. Im signed up for a service which comes to your rescue in an hour if anything happens to your car. But thanks to dad and a one or two incidents, the uncomplicated process of changing a flat tyre for a car wasnt unknown to me. So what was special today? Gurgaon toll road. 5.30 pm. One of the busiest roads as hell....especially for people driving towards Delhi. A tyre in my car decides to give up, and die. So after struggling to get to the corner of the road, I get to park once all those who were distracted and irritated with my left indicator gave me a death stare from their vehicles. Big, small, from two wheelers to 6 to 8 all sorts passed by me, while I took the Stepney out from the boot and was fixing the jack. Why didnt I call for help? Well it takes 20 minutes to change a tyre, and 1 hour for those service people to come. So. Back to changing the tyre. While Im busy doing what I am, in the heat, unexpectedly, a deep voice calls out from my back and I hear, for the first friggin time in my life excuse me. Kya main aapki help kar Sakta hoon? (Can I help you?) . I stop. Turn around. And see a man, in his late 20s or early 30s, switching off his bikes engine and smiling kindly at me. For what it looked like a really long pause from my side, I smile and say- thank you. Thank you very much. Par manage ho jayega., (Ill manage) And he says haan woh toh dikh raha hain, par thodi aasaani ho jayegi, agar aapko help miljaye. (I can see youll manage, but Itll be easier for you if you get some help. I asked if he was getting late, and he said hell manage. So there we were . two of us, changing that flat tyre in mere 10 minutes. After it was done, I found myself thanking him profoundly and giving him cold water to drink from the bottle in my car. As a welcome he gave me a hand shake and I asked his name. So heres to you Rishi, from Rajouri. I dunno if you were god sent, or an angel.....but you looked like just another human being to me....and thank you for making my belief strong in the fact that no matter what, If ever I see someone who truly seems to be troubled, it costs nothing to stop and ask in case they need help. And Im glad I always do. Getting the no is better than loosing a chance to help someone get back faith in humanity. (Of course to be avoided if youre a woman and driving alone late in night!but even then you can call the police if its a medical emergency or anything and then leave ). So for every idiot who doesnt give way to an ambulance, for every lazy ass who decides to stand/sit and see a girl getting teased than help her out, for every self-centred piece of meat who thinks I dont have to do this. Let someone else do it.....theres a Rishi from Rajoiri, every where around this place...doing just the opposite. God bless :)
