Like People... want to help the Market? Volunteer to help us with our STUDY! Across the USA, public markets, especially farmers markets, are growing by leaps and bounds. But how much is a leap? Can you measure a bound? Public officials, neighboring businesses, prospective vendors, and market organizers want to quantify market successes This year the Montrose Farmers Market wants to take on the task of measuring their impact; and we are seeking volunteers to help us conduct an economic impact study. We will be using tools provided by Market Share - SEED ( Sticky Economic Evaluation Device) SEED will give us tools for interviewing a representative sample of shoppers. These interviews, along with the final tally of shoppers attending the market on the day of the study, will provide the data to input into the SEED program. Our data will be analyzed in view of multiplier effects that express the impact not just of the spending on a particular market day or series of days but also of successive rounds of re-spending the initial dollars within a region. The greater the interaction each dollar has with the local economy, the larger the multiplier (or in our language, the “stickier” the economy). SEED will helps us demonstrate the stickiness of the dollars spent at the Montrose Farmers Market. The Montrose Farmers Market is seeking 6-10 volunteer SEED team members to help us accomplish this task. We will need :clickers to count customers at the Market, pollsters to interview customers and foragers to walk downtown to capture information from retailers, residents and tourists about the effect the Market has on Downtown Montrose. The Montrose Farmers Market SEED TEAM Training Meeting will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 11:30-12:30 at the Montrose Farmers Market. Please, e mail me your contact information and let us know if you are interested in volunteering. The scheduled study dates for 2013 are: Saturday, July 27th, Aug. 10th , September 7th and October 5th. Volunteer SEED Team Members will need to be available for at least two of these date, and be at the Market for a minimum of 2 hours. We sincerely appreciate your support and hope you will join us to help measure the economic impact of the Montrose Farmers Market. Please, feel free to forward this to anyone who might be interested in assisting with this study.
