Like Uncle Joe again this a.m., moving kinda slow, poured up a cup of coffee and it aint taken a hold yet. Got a goodly amount of rain yesterday, still rainy outside, havent looked at the guage, didnt even venture out yesterday except to feed pups. I got a call yesterday p.m. about 3:00 p.m., it was Ricky Smith, he called to tell me Thomas had passed away about 12:30 p.m. I knew it was coming, but still I was kinda stunned, you see Thomas has been gone to N.C. for several years, but the bond I had with him was still there, he was almost like a Dad figure to me, for yall to understand wed have to go back to that bad, bad, year of 73. Me and Glenda was trying to farm out there where we had for several years with Hiram and Wallace Bembry, she was part time at the nursing home, and I worked when they had something at Hodges Tractor Co. Thomas was the sales person for the tractor Co., and he would find me something to do to buy groceries, he was always good to me, and Ill never forget that. 73 was the flood year, I had all the crops in, all or most of it drowned, I had to redo it all and work that entire season, knowing I couldnt make a penny. There is another story behind me farming out there them 3 years, but thats for another time. It took us another 3 or 4 years to ever pay Mr. Eatmon and other creditors, but eventually we got it all done. Thomas was by my side through it all, or I would have fell Im sure. I am so Thankful to The Good Lord for gitting us through them terrible times, Now that is personal stuff Im sharing with yall, aint meant to be no gossip nuggets, hope what Ive said will be treated that way. Just part of a lifes story, from the ponderations of an ol man, dont you see. Thankful this a.m. for the rain, had done got powful dry here at my house, and Thankful for all the blessings of life. Im gonna stop for now, all I ask is remember the lowly. Amen. rd
