Linda Jeffrey continues to fight for Bramptonians at Queen’s Park Receives her fourth nomination as Liberal Candidate for Brampton-Springdale BRAMPTON – This evening, Linda Jeffrey, Liberal MPP for Brampton-Springdale, accepted the nomination as the Ontario Liberal Party candidate for the next provincial election by the Brampton-Springdale Provincial Liberal Association. Jeffrey was first elected in 2003 and was subsequently re-elected in 2007 and 2011. “I first entered provincial politics to help the residents of Brampton,“ said Jeffrey. “Before 2003 the residents of Brampton had a school system that was in disarray, an incomplete highway, and a crumbling hospital that had just experienced a flood and a fire. Today we have the best school system in the English speaking world, all three phases of Highway 410 have been completed and we now have a new $1 billion dollar state of the art hospital.” Former Ontario Finance Minister Greg Sorbara who not only chaired the nomination meeting but also was responsible for recruiting Jeffrey back in 2002 introduced Jeffrey. Sorbara spoke about the work she has done to support the residents of Brampton-Springdale as their Member of Provincial Parliament and her commitment to the people of Ontario as a Cabinet Minister. She is currently serving as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Chair of Cabinet. Previously she served as Minister of Labour, Minister responsible for Seniors Issues and Minister of Natural Resources.“Over the past two decades I’ve seen our city grow exponentially since I was first elected as a municipal councillor back in 1991,” said Jeffrey. “What has not changed is my dedication to public service. Whether it is meeting with residents in my constituency office or announcing the next phase of the reconstruction of Peel Memorial Hospital, as I did earlier today with the Minister of Health and Long Term Care, I will always put the interests of the residents of Brampton-Springdale first – they deserve nothing less.” “I look forward to serving my residents and working with our new Premier, Kathleen Wynne, as we tackle the challenges Ontario faces going forward,” Jeffrey concluded.
