Linda and I are starting the third week of an eight week sojourn through Central Asia. So far all has gone well - weve seen a lot and learned a lot. We have traveled through Tashkent and Kiva, Uzbekistan; Konya-Urgench, Ashkabad, and Mary/Merv, Turkmenistan; then turned back into Uzbekistan to Bukhara. We head to Samarkand tomorrow for four days, then head into Tajikistan for two plus weeks, winding through the high Pamirs on the second highest road in the world. We turn into western China to Kashgar for several days, then north into and across Kygystan. We finally head into Kazakhstan where we catch a plane home from Almaty. At least thats the plan, the Good Lord willin and the crick dont rise, as the home folk say...
