Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius expressed his sincere condolences on the loss of Alfonsas Nyka-Niliūnas, famous American-Lithuanian poet, translator and literary critic, to his family and the Lithuanian World Community. Alfonsas Nyka-Niliūnas was one of Lithuania’s most prominent poets of the 20th century. His life and activities embodied his infinite talent and noble human values. His work inspired Lithuanians scattered around the world and strengthened the spirit of the nation during the hardest decades of oppression. His life was a mirror and reflected back to the fate of most of Lithuanian society in the 20th century.
