Lone Survivor is: UNFORGETABLE, A TRUE STORY OF COURAGE AND WARTIME COMMRADARY. Having just seen this movie, I have to say: THIS IS A MUST SEE MOVIE. I did not read the book, but I see it is authored by the one survivor, Marcus. I did see the movie earlier this week, and walked away with tears of amazement for the courage and loyalty the Seals demonstrated to one another, and for utter amazement of this best of the best elite team of warriors. I have never had a friend or family member in the Seals, but I only have a great appreciation for such minds who understand that sometimes, more-often-than not, nothing short of EXCELLENCE in every way, will suffice for a given mission. EXCELLENCE, is their mark, set-apart for missions that mediocrity of mind and heart, would find tragic. Even with such high standards and training, tragedies still happen as with Lone Survivor, and these usually because of situations unforeseen, out-of-their-control. However, and as I did emphasize with another chapter in my book, The Bride Made Ready, Communications are vital to have up-to-par and with a quality above-and-beyond standard. Many disasters of history that we could recall, have at the core, weak or no communications for one reason or the other. And in this movie, we see again, communication a serious problem resulting in the outcome of fatalities that might have been prevented. I will read the book and learn more about what actually happened. I will watch, read, and support anything - anything, about the Navy Seals. When I wrote my book, The Bride Made Ready published in 2010, I was compelled to dedicate an entire chapter on the Navy Seals, and at that time I could have not told you WHY I was so compelled to give them this attention and honor they deserve. But I was compelled, and my book gave did honor them in advance for what the public would soon learn, and which I knew nothing about at that time either. But, as I set out to research who they are, before I knew it I had an entire chapter about their training, how they are chosen to even be considered for Seals boot camp training. If you understood as I do now, what they have to conquer to be a Seal, you too would have an appreciation for this highly-trained elite group of warriors. Shortly after my book was published in 2010, and having heard nothing about the Seals for several years at least - nothing significant or newsworthy, they were all over the news for having brought down Bin Lauden. And later the movie, Zero Dark Thirty was created. This too, was excellent - A must see if you havent already. Lone Survivor is a little rough around the edges, but it is a war story and what war is not a little rough in itself? I thoroughly enjoyed this move. Its suspense and nail bitter attention getter as a true story, brought me here to tell you, its worth your time and money. It is a war story so if you cant handle the facts of war, you might want to decline.
