Long awaited Ping magazine for children was launched yesterday in Dohori Sanjh Restaurant in the chairmanship of Mr. Dinesh Subba. Organized by Mr. Chewang Lama and edited by Mr. Rabin Rai, it has come out to be more than I had expected ( me myself being one of the editor for English section including Mrs. Renu Rai ). The cover of the magazine, the writings, the paintings, the illustrations and everything is awesome. Waving goodbye to 2014, at least we had something new to offer this time to the coming new year 2015. It was a great joy of achievement to accomplish a job that we were looking for doing something for the society ( Hong Kong Nepalese ). Our society is made by nobody other than just ourselves and our future society is guaranted only by our children. A society begins from ones own home and children. To shape a society in a good way every individual should be aware of their basic responsibilities. We are facing a vast generation gap with our children in Hong Kong ( our way of thinking, our values, our beliefs are shaped and based on the education system and the society of a third world country ). So to refill these gaps we need a lot of exercises. And I hope, Ping magazine will be one, though a very small, but a very effective source of exercise to the parents and the children to keep each other understand more, involve more with each other while the parents helping their children read Nepalese section and the children helping their parents interpret the English section. There is also a possibility of attracting the children to learn Nepalese language with the help of entertaining subjects like stories, jokes, poems, illustrations and paintings. Amidst the hectic life of Hong Kong, where we have to run for our bread and butter all the time, I wont say weve missed anything to complete this magazine. This is more than just we could give with so much little time. And here we are making our magazine half yearly and we are working for the next issue very soon. So, if any parents or children who would want to participate with us can hand us your articles and join us in our mission to Support Ping and support your children.
