Long post Last Friday I received an email from my church - TopicsExpress

Long post Last Friday I received an email from my church letting us know about a homeless student here in our community. I typically would have just read it and moved on. The Lord stopped me in my tracks on this one. I forwarded it to Renee and she told me to check into it. I love it when she gives me a vote of confidence and to seek it out. Saturday evening I called the person who originally made contact and we spoke for quite some time about the situation. Earlier that afternoon I had been mowing and singing to The Lord. I was singing an old song titled I exalt thee. After speaking to the emailer about this situation I couldnt sleep much Saturday night, tossing and turning thinking about this young man. Sunday morning as I was continuing to pray through this asking God for Clarity, we sang I exalt thee in the 9:30 worship! The Lord speaks to me through music like this. We havent sang that song in years in church. I love it when God just simply throws it down! Today I met with the young man and we had a great visit. Tomorrow he will get to meet our kids and Thursday he will get to meet Renee. Our goal is for him to move in with us on Saturday and hopefully give him some normalcy. It definitely wont be without challenges. He is a senior at another high school than ours. So logistics at times will be difficult. But my God will meet all our needs. Today he started his first day of training at his first ever job. Thankful that I know many of the managers within their organization. This will also provide logistic challenges but we will figure this out as well. He is 18 and a senior. Renee has always said that if we ever wanted to adopt that she would want them to be in between Cooper and Kennedy in age. Well, he is definitely in between 15 & 19! I have reached out to a few of you personally to pray for us during this decision and I want to thank you for praying. Im now asking many others to join us in prayer as we add this young man to our family. It will be difficult at times and taxing. Financially our needs will increase. Our family core will be opened up to a stranger. But I think it will all be worth it. I cant wait to see how The Lord writes this next chapter in our life. Will you commit to joining us in prayer during this opportunity to be his hands and feet? Dont know why we were chosen, dont really care. Excited for the future! We are claiming this verse and many others! James 1:27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
