Look folks I know many of you will disagree with what I am about to write, but I am a HUGE proponent of paying collegiate student atheletes. These young men and women deserve a piece of the proverbial pie! It is ridiculous that billions are pocketed every year by the NCAA and colleges and universities in ticket sales, memorabilia sales, concessions sales, and yes video game sales (although Im still sad at the death of EA Sports NCAA Football franchise), and the student atheletes featured therein whose labor generates all that revenue, get next to NOTHING! Scholarship, smolarship, when compared to what they generate (as you would consider when calculating a fair wage in any other venue of capitalistic interaction in our economy), it is next to NOTHING! Well folks, the rubber is about to meet the road, so to speak, thanks to the ruling in the case of the Northwestern University student atheletes. A Federal agency says YES, they can unionize. Can you feel the ripple effect sweeping through the NCAA right now? All the stupid rules against players making money from signing their jerseys, taking gifts, etc., are almost at an end. What do you think? Read the article and opine! I say...they pay!
