Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou wilt always look there. © copyright Michael James Reidy WHAT IS INNER STRENGTH??? Someone recently asked me to write about Inner Strength. I thought about my own personal experiences and those of the people Ive talked to and noticed that when going through tough times some people have a resolve that even though they are struggling, they will get over it. Whereas, others seem to crumble and cant find the inner strength to put the pieces of their lives back together. Some people will walk themselves down a path to healing and recovery by continually reinforcing their faith in life and knowing deep down that everything will work out, while others will not budge off of their path of depression and self-pity. They fall into emotional and mental quicksand and believe they have absolutely no control over crawling out of this torture chamber they are in. Inner strength picks you up when you are down, it gives you the discipline and perseverance in attaining your goals, it allows you to stand up for what you believe in, it gives you confidence in voicing your opinion despite if others agree with you or not and it strengthens you every time you tap into it. It doesnt matter where you live, who you are, what you do for a living or how old you are, what some people dont realize is that everyone has this inner strength the only difference is whether you cultivate it or not. Inner strength is the symbiotic relationship between your mind and soul. It is your connection to who or what you consider to be your Higher Power or God and what you think. (Dont take the word think lightly.) It is your unwavering belief and faith in this power and knowing without a doubt that no matter what adversity, hurt or inconvenience visits your doorstep you have the inner strength to move beyond it through prayer and your thoughts. Using your inner strength gives you the confidence that you will not only survive it but it will make you a stronger and wiser person because of it. And, depending on whether you tap into it or not it will pave the road for your future. Inner strength allows you to do the thing you think you cant! When going through a tough time you have the choice to acknowledge your inner power or you can do it on your own. You can believe in and anticipate goodness and harmony or you can remain stuck wallowing in fear, disappointment, hurt and not seeing any way out. Its all about what you believe in and what you tell yourself about yourself and your life. So if youve been missing out on having a relationship with your soul, your inner being; maybe its time to introduce yourself to the essence of who you are so you can know the comfort and peace that comes from nurturing your inner strength
