Battle of the Axes Battle of the Bands Battle of the Axes, Battle Of the Bands is a television show that takes on a new twist to an old concept of The Battle of the Bands . This television show will divide the United States into four quadrants as follows, North, South East and West. The show will be hosted by local celebrities and local radio personalities. The Battle of the Axes, Battle of the Bands will start as a local competition where bands will compete for a spot on a national level against other bands from their respective quadrants. The prize will a recording contract with a record label. From each quadrant there will be a number of bands selected ( that number will be determined at a later date ) and each band will have to play original music as well as cover music.At first the bands performance will be judged by the audience members in the arena . Later, they will be judged via call-in votes from the television viewers and through text voting. When the competition moves forward on to the national level, a panel will pick songs from the different eras, such as from the 1950’s, 1960,’s 1970’s and 1980’s. The bands will cover these songs and be judged on their interpretation. As the voting takes place from week to week, the perspective record labels can see the growth and popularity of each band and their performance levels. As the process progresses towards the national level, the bands would meet the winners from each of the other quadrants and battle in venues such as The House of Blues. With a national chain handling the bookings and scheduling can be handled with greater ease . Working with one established venue would be better than separate entities. The format would consist of each band performing three songs. The maximum length of the songs will be no more than 5 minutes and no shorter than 3 minutes and 45 seconds. This will depend on the venue that the show is televised in, local versus cable stations. Members on a panel that would critique the bands would be made up from those in the record industry from the major labels to the Indy labels as well as personalities that have a long standing the record Industry . The winners from each venue would travel from on location via bus and the travel would be video taped showing how the band gears up for the next competition ( battle ) and the same would go for the band that has won the previous competition, The final prize would be either a recording contract with a major label or a indie label to even opening for a internationally known act on tour
