Lots of info to share this afternoon but first an announcement: *****Anyone wanting to visit baby Arya MUST do so before Monday. Starting Monday 9/15 the NICU only allows parents and grandparents at the bedside due to the early arrival and severity of the flu virus and enterovirus****** Update: We got mommy April all checked into the Ronald house. She will call it home most days until Aryas discharge and wont have to drive back and forth so much. Daddy Darius is back to work so he will have to commute still but they hope to coordinate so someone is always here for her. Aryas respiratory status has improved since yesterday although they are leaving her on the vent a little while longer. She needs to get a little better at making her own surfactant, the substance they usually dont make until later in a pregnancy. However, the neonatologist said that she is really doing great in this area overall. They are giving her a blood transfusion since babies this tiny dont make a lot or come with a lot of RBCs so that is to be expected. They are going to put in PICC line which will serve as a more permanent line for her fluids and meds and they can remove her umbilical artery lines which cant be used for long term. The blood cultures they sent looking for infection were negative (YAAY!!!). They sent her placenta away and could tell that April was very very sick but did not see large areas where the blood flow to Arya had stopped so that is very wonderful news! Overall things look great we just need her to poop! That is the only thing they are seeming even remotely worried about at this time. Thank you for your prayers and please enjoy aunties pictures.
