Lower Macungie announced Thursday that the townships acquisition - TopicsExpress

Lower Macungie announced Thursday that the townships acquisition of 70 acres of parkland and 100 acres of floodplain greenway at the Jaindl warehouse project on Spring Creek Road reflects the commitment of the Township to limiting development and preserving open space where appropriate. This the same township that rezoned 700 acres of Jaindls prime farmland so that he could build warehouses, stores and 900 homes. This is the same township that just expanded the public sewer area to encompass the remaining prime farmland west of Route 100, thereby assuring its eventual development. This is the same township that wants to commercially rezone a ten acre piece of farmland on Route 100 that would be the falling domino for the rezoning of the remaining prime farmland west of Route 100. Tis is the same township that has not spent one dime to actively preserve open space for the sake of open space itself, has no open space acquisition program and whose elected leaders have never expressed any interest in limiting development or preserving open space. So far, this townships commitment to limiting development and preserving open space means accepting the crumbs of open space offered by developers and taking ownership of the floodplain greenways that cant be developed anyway. Is this what the township means by saying where appropriate ? SCB
