MANCHESTER and the CHANGE of everything - Symbols in Culture In the natural - a reflection of the spiritual battle and spiritual climate change. In speaking in the UK about the UK Bill Johnson spoke the now famous (in God circles) words below: There’s something about September 1st, I believe you can write it down. I believe that you can write it in your journal, that: “Everything changed September 1st, 2011” Bill Johnson Bill was actually referring to the spiritual climate in the nation, a change in favour of the people of God. A change from the Kingdom of man to the Kingdom of heaven (man with God). At times spiritual realities are reflected in the natural. The thoughts below might just be coincidence, but stay with it as there are quite a lot of “co-incidences” that seem to be speaking out. In the UK football (soccer) is the main sport that dominates much of the culture. Two teams from Manchester are symbolic of opposing spiritual forces. Manchester City owed its origin to a church based team that had been set up a century earlier. Even the name City reflects the (Christian) Cathedral status of the place. The team is nick named “the citizens” or “the Sky Blues”. The long-standing leading team of English football is Manchester United, otherwise known as the Red Devils, some say the origin of this is that the team actually had a pact with Satan. The original United was founded as a team from a commercial railway company so the roots are commercial (Babylon). Manchester United display the devil as their team symbol on their crest and shirt, a sign of a rejection of the Christian ethos that the nation once held. Manchester United has long been the dominant force in English football taking more titles than any other in the Premier League and has won the league 13 times to date with the next two rivals only taking 3 titles each, so United alone have won over 60% of these competitions since the present Premier league was formed. One change that occurred in the period that Bill Johnson referred to has been in the world of football. So what’s unusual? Manchester City had for decades languished as far as even 2 leagues down and had long been the 2nd rate team in Manchester. Man City had not won any major tournament for 44 years. City sat at the top of the Premier league and one place ahead over Manchester United. In 2011/12 English football season Manchester City and Manchester United came close to a neck and neck finish in winning the Premier League that began in 2011 and ended in 2012. In the end it was only in the final minutes of the final game that City won and took the Premiership top position. Quoting Bill “Everything changed”, one area of everything was in Manchester in the Premier competition that ran from September 2011 into 2012. Manchester City owed its origin to a church based team that had been set up a century earlier. Even the name City reflects the (Christian) Cathedral status of the place. The team is nick named “the citizens”. In 2012/13 Man United – Red Devils - again regained the Premiership, but Manchester City took second place. By 2014 Man United – the Red Devils - began to slip down the league significantly losing in a run of three games including to minor teams like Sunderland and Swansea (area linked to the historic Welsh revival). Currently Manchester United sits in 7th place, while City is currently a close 2nd in the Premier League with more games ahead. Man United is the nickname that might be considered as symbolic of man united without or against God or SECULARISM the characteristic of our age, whilst Man City reflects the contrasting Christian man with God or God with us aspect. Has SECULARISM run out of steam? Is the Christian voice ascending in its influence? Are the assumptions of conventional secularism headed for demise? Another observation reflecting images of the secular nature of Man United – the long serving Manager of Manchester United departed in 2013, retiring from football. Alex Ferguson was a powerful Father figure who had the power to instil fear and control of the over paid and vigorous football players under him. His departure is like moving the “strongman” out of the way. Even his name reflects the character of MAN. Alexander = Defender of man Ferguson = Son of Fergus (Fergus = Manly strength) So the STRONG MAN departs. As the United Manager departs, a new man steps in to lead Manchester City, his name is Manuel Luis Pellegrini. Manuel = God with us Luis = Famous Warrior (a title used in the Bible for one of David’s top warriors) Pellegrini = Pilgrims (the Godly Christian) Just as Alex Ferguson’s name perfectly reflected the concept of man’s unity, Pellegrini’s reflects the Pilgrim journey towards the heavenly city. As well as being called Citizens – another of Manchester City’s nick names is Sky blues …reflecting the glory of the heavens. Is this change a reflection of the change of wind away from the secular towards the inclusion of the God who made Britain a great nation. There’s something about September 1st, I believe you can write it down. I believe that you can write it in your journal, that: “Everything changed September 1st, 2011”. Now you have to understand that a Kingdom perspective sees the oak tree in an acorn… I feel like it’s a prophetic word over this country. September 1st everything’s different. Bill Johnson, September 2nd 2011, Westminster, London UK. supranatural-life/Mobile/default.aspx?group_id=161034&article_id=291054 Let us hope that the Christian voice will again prevail of the voice of God opposing secularism which is empowered by darkness. When the power is transferred to the people of God, a way is made to redeem the lost and recover all that has been lost. (The article below uses the name symbols of famous people these illustrations this in no way reflects any negative implications to the people themselves.)
