MATCH REPORT: Katella Knights vs. Anaheim HS at Anaheim HS - 01/29/14 - V/JV/FS Yesterday, Katella Soccer traveled to face cross-town rivals, Anaheim, in a showdown of the Orange League’s top two teams. Going into the game tied for first, the Varsity Knights came up second, falling 2-1 to the Colonists. Trailing early in the game, Katella tied the match up 1-1 before halftime on Fabian Cobian’s goal off his own free kick. In the 2nd half, Anaheim scored again, and in spite of a valiant effort, Katella came up short losing 2-1. The Varsity Knights drop to 2nd place in league with a 3-1-1 record, but these two teams meet again in just a couple weeks … at Katella! The JV Knights also fell for the first time in league 2-1 to Anaheim. Trailing 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 early in the 2nd half, “Player of the Game,” Daniel Garcia scored off his own free kick to cut the lead, but ultimately it was not enough. The JV Knights still hold first place with their record of 4-1-0 in league and 10-2-2 overall. Fortunately, the Frosh-Soph Knights fared better moving into first place themselves with their 3-0 victory over the Colonists. “Player of the Game,” Polo Amador scored twice, the second with help from Ricardo Hernandez, to put Katella up 2-0 at halftime. Anthony Gutierrez scored the 3rd Katella goal off another assist from Hernandez. The Frosh-Soph Knights are now 3-0-1 in league and 7-3-3 overall. Katella Soccer is back at home on Friday to host Santa Ana Valley to start the second half of Orange League play. All three teams kick off at 3:15pm. During the games, there will be plenty to eat like Mustache Mike’s Italian Ice and other foods, so come on out and support the teams! GO, KNIGHTS!
