MAX UPDATE Setting outside with Max this morning enjoying my coffee and Max started to explain to me the differences between people and dogs. I was quite surprised because he had never taken the time before to share his deepest thoughts. But this morning he unloaded on me. Really did not tell me anything I did not know but he really got me to thinking...... Unlike people, who play so many power games dogs, when they first meet, establish who is the dominate dog right up front. They dont tell the other dog one thing and then stab them in the back or throw them under the bus when things go bad. Dogs dont play power games, he said. Instead, its Im the boss and you follow my lead at all times. Full stop! At some point dogs mark their turf by walking around and taking a pee along the border of their turf. People keep moving the boundaries and forgetting to tell anyone. Then when you question it you end up getting the boot. People have egos, dogs dont seem to worry about things like that. Max said people should never be trusted....wow! Max went on to tell me how people would stab you in the back, pretending to be your friend them, BAM! He said they would shake your hand, pretend to be friendly and then drop you in the sh.t. Dogs on the other hand have a much simpler way to detect a friend from a fake....yes! They just walk around and sniff the other fellows butt. From that simple act you can tell a lot about the other fellow. I wish that discovering the truth about people were as easy. But then if we tried that we would probably go to jail or the crazy farm. Wish I had sniffed a few butts along the way and found out more of whom I was dealing with!!! He started in on monogamy but I shut him down on that one quickly...he had already got my day off to a bad start. Maybe more on that subject later. If you would like to hear Maxs thoughts on that just let us know..... Recap....get it down, up front who is in charge, what their expectations are, where the boundaries are and ask to be notified when any changes come about. Understand everyones role before you start and what the rules are. Mark your turf.......Then, before you get involved, sniff a few butts and determine if who you are dealing with an be trusted. Got it? Enough for today......thanks, Ed and Max.
