“MAY THE LAMB, WHO WAS SLAIN, RECEIVE THE REWARD OF HIS SUFFERING!” Yesterday, 287 years ago (July 19,1727) began what has become known as The 100 Year Prayer meeting, through the working of God with Count Ludwig von Zinzendorf and the Moravian believers at Herrnhut (The Lord’s Watch) in Berthelsdorf, Germany. Count Zinzendorf, had given his heart to Jesus at the age of 6 and through the process of time, was able to purchase the estate of his grandmother when he was 21, still following the Lord and enquiring as to how God would choose to use him for eternal purposes. Not long thereafter he was approached by the leader of the Moravians, the spiritual descendants of John Huss, enquiring if they, oppressed for their faith and finding themselves homeless, might take refuge on a portion of his estate. Zinzendorf agreed, a plot of land was granted and Herrnhut was established. What began as a company of 10 in 1722, grew to a small village of 300 by 1727. Many in the town were also drawn into the movement as the Reformed and the Anabaptists (present day Baptists) who believed as they did, joined in. However, because of language barriers and debates over church liturgy between the Moravians and the Lutherans, eventual conflicts began at Herrnhut. Count Zinzendorf determined to move into the camp himself and personally visit each of the homes, praying with them and organizing them into small bands of 2-3,who then would meet regularly to pray, exhort and share one another’s burdens. Within a month or so, they found their squabbles gone & their hearts melting together … then came the day they later described as “their Pentecost” Soon 24 young men and 24 young women were formed into a “round the clock” prayer meeting, which continued for 100 YEARS! The Moravians became the first Protestant movement to send missionaries around the world to share the gospel. Over 3000 eventually spread to St.Croix, Greenland. Lapland, Georgia, Suriname, Guinea, South Africa, Algeria, Ceylon, Romania and Constantinople! One out of every 60 early Moravians went to the mission field. This video tells the story of two who SOLD THEMSELVES AS SLAVES because it was the only way to infiltrate 3000 slaves on an island in the West Indies to share with them the good news of Jesus Christ! Their last heart-cry, from the ship’s bow, now in chains and fetters was heard on the shore by their fellow believers … “May the Lamb, Who was slain, receive the reward of His suffering!” https://youtube/watch?v=cYZ7Uq6Dbyk&index=27&list=FL3_MCp8ZcDuG69XgFy_iU-g
