MCC 7 - 3 Saints The saints fought hard against a very strong MCC side in the Rochester heat on Saturday afternoon. Nationally renowned Monroe showed why theyre the favorites to take the conference again this year scoring 7 goals to MNEs 3. Despite their best attempts to keep the game tight in the opening stages, saints found themselves 2 - 0 within 7 minutes. Strong work by a very quick MCC winger terrorized the saints left side for the opening 10 minutes, as saints game plan was thrown into chaos. Despite MCCs positive start the saints rallied through Michael Lennox (St Matthews), taking the ball from a MCC midfielder to ping a magnificent 40 yard ball over he head of the MCC keeper, scoring a truly magnificent goal. 2-1. MCC restored their 2 goal advantage following further hesitation in the saints back line. Crosses from the MCC right plagued the saints all afternoon and was no more apparent for MCCs 3rd goal which seemed to hit the strikers neck before landing in the MNE goal. 3-1. MCC added a 4th shortly after, before Michael Lennox showed his free kick taking prowess and delivered another superb strike into the top corner. 4-2. As an incident filled 1st half came to an end, Lennox got his hattrick to provide a lifeline to the saints in the half time locker room. The big ginger-haired midfielder notched his 10 goal in 11 games and his 5th free kick of the season, smashing the ball into the top bin past a helpless MCC keeper. HT MCC 4 - 3 Saints The second half was cagier in comparison, as both teams seemed wary about conceding the first goal. MCC took the spoils through fine work again down the saints left side. 5-3. Despite chances falling to Schenberg (Sagertown) who hit the crossbar and Shousher (Clay) it was the Tribunes who added to their score, scoring twice as the saints pushed forward looking to get something from the game. FT MCC 7 - 3 Saints Saints: Martin, Carr, Garnica, MacDonald, Angelo, Kennedy, Lennox, Aguirre, Desnerck, Hoffman, Shousher. Saints next game is Lorain CCC 4pm Weds 8th October, the MU JV game has been postponed until a later date still to be confirmed.
