MCV NEWS REPOSTED FROM IMAGES NEWSLETTER The Manhattans THE MANHATTANS TO SHARE STAGE WITH REGGAE STARS IN NYC New York: On Sunday, November 3, 2013, the iconic R&B group, The Manhattans will grace the stage of the Lehman Performing Arts Center in the Bronx, alongside Reggae Icon Ken Boothe, and fellow reggae acts, Pam Hall and the exciting, L.U.S.T. Together they will bring to the audience what is being billed as a “Musical Evening of Love.” The Manhattans have always thrilled audiences whenever they hit the stage and this occasion promises to be no exception. Fans can expect to be wooed all over again with such classics as, I wanna Be (Your Everything), Kiss and Say Goodbye, Shining Star, There’s No Me Without You, to name a few from their stellar catalog. The group still boasts founding member, Edward “Sonny” Bivins, who has surrounded himself with the rich talent of Charles Hardy, Harsey Hemphill, Alvin Pazant and Lee Williams to complete the modern lineup, even as they continue to, “seek out new horizons.” Not to be outdone will be the indomitable and super long-stayer, in the business, Ken Boothe, who has been at the pinnacle of reggae for close to five decades. The ever consummate entertainer, Boothe commands respect from the stage like no other. With hits like Puppet on a String, Artibella, The Girl I Left Behind, When I Fall In Love, and Everything I Own, should have Lehman Center rocking. Although he leaves nothing on the stage, his fans are always begging for more. Expect nothing less than a workman like performance from this classic act. The lone female on the bill Pam Hall, is indeed a force to be reckoned with. Dubbed Jamaica’s Song Bird for decades, Pam’s longevity in the business is nothing to be sneezed at. With hits such as, Perfidia, Our Day Will Come, and No Time To Lose, she is set to deliver a scintillating performance. She should be well received as she has not performed in New York for a number of years. New kids on the block, L.U.S.T., has proven since bursting on the scene, to be a force of nature. With pitch perfect tones and immaculate harmonizing, the group of four former solo acts has joined forces to make waves in concert halls and stages everywhere. These former singers: (L)ukie D, Trilla (U), (S)inging Melody and (T)ony Curtis — the letters of whose names form the acronym, LUST, is a composite of limitless talent. All stars in their own right, they have merged their unique blend of vocals to become a standout group. One of their monster hits, the re-make of the Air Supply hit, Just As I Am, reminded fans exactly what it was that had endeared them to the group in the first place. To say they are a dynamic force is an understatement. Their fans in New York are eagerly waiting to see them, on November 3rd. The combination of The Manhattans, Ken Boothe, Pam Hall and L.U.S.T., is designed to bring an exciting and pleasure-filled evening of old and new school romance to the stage for our patrons, said Rob Loague, promoter. We anticipate magical moments during every performance. ”A Musical Evening of Love” is sponsored by Caribbean Links, distributors of Tru Juice and Peanut Punch; Western Union; People’s Choice Furniture; Gen Gen Tax Service; Groovin Radio; Sashe~ Cosmetics; and Klassique Bar and Grille. Doors will open at 5pm for the scheduled 6pm start. Emcee for the evening will be Dejay Roy of Road International and Irie Jam Radio. Tickets may be purchased at the Lehman Performing Arts Center Box Office: 718.960.8833
