MELBOURNE—EAU GALLIE ARTS DISTRICT DONATES KIOSK TO CITY OF MELBOURNE TO MARK THE INDIAN RIVER LAGOON NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAY The Eau Gallie Arts District Main Street (EGAD) is proud to donate the first kiosk for the Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway to the City of Melbourne. The kiosk will be installed in Pineapple Park, which is part of the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) National Scenic Byway. The public is welcome to attend the celebration on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 5 p.m. as Melbourne’s Mayor Kathy Meehan and City Council members dedicate the kiosk in Pineapple Park. Following the dedication is EGAD’s First Friday from 5:30-8:30 pm featuring live music from Mark Baker & Friends in the band shell, arts and crafts vendors around the Eau Gallie Square, and shops open late for a little holiday shopping. The Eau Gallie kiosk is the first of six kiosks to be installed along the 195 mile scenic byway that will inform and educate visitors and residents about the historical, cultural, environmental and recreational resources found along the Indian River Lagoon. The IRL National Scenic Byway Coalition brought the idea forward, and the Eau Gallie Arts District Main Street worked with the Coalition, the Florida Department of Transportation, the City of Melbourne Parks and Recreation and the Eau Gallie Community Redevelopment Committee. Special thanks go to Kona Construction, MK Structural Engineering, and Space Coast Uniform and Banners for their generous discounts to make this kiosk a reality. For more information on the kiosk program, contact the Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway coalition at 321-409-7187 or email to info@indianriverlagoonbyway.
