MEN: Want an easy way to regularly eat vegetables? Try these simple things... 1. Buy washed packaged ready-to-eat snack veggies (celery, carrots, sugar snap peas and broccoli etc...) as well as romaine hearts and other ones like cherry tomatoes etc... 2. Buy three or so pairs of (pull apart) kitchen sheers, its fast and better than using a knife and cutting board and youll have plenty of clean ones to be ready to use when you need something quick 3. Keep your veggies in the CLOSEST parts of the fridge instead of drawers that are out of reach like the dreaded crisper Listen. Men want food now, and without hassle, yet we buy healthy foods thinking we will eat them but we often do not on a daily basis and we end up throwing them away. We get tired, our blood sugar drops and we are used to going for sweet/carb type of ready-to-eat snack food. Other hints... -Keep a good supply of healthy dips like hummus and dressings. Hummus can be flavored and has protein in it. -Carrots, like celery, are amazing in peanut butter. -Try just balsamic and olive oil instead of expensive fatty dressings, its healthy and yummy. -Bagged salad and washed wild greens are also good if they are eaten before they expire. Remember to check them on a regular basis so they dont spoil. -Keep bags of baby carrots OPEN, not sealed, or they can get slimy as well as others like snow peas. -Pre-cut celery when you buy it, and place them in water in the fridge for quick fresh snacks that lasts for days. -Dont buy kale. Yeah its trendy, yeah its healthy but it tastes like shit, and it will probably rot in your fridge and although well intended and hip, most people dont really eat it. -Avoid extremes in your shopping and use common sense. Buy only what you can eat in a week or how ever often you get groceries. Be realistic and dont set goals youve broken many times before. If you keep buying something that rots before you eat it, stop buying it until you can change your habits. Tell your stoner friends. Tell your crash diet friends. Tell your junk food addict friends. These quick veggie ideas also make good midnight snacks if you must. Dont think you always have to buy organic if you always let them rot. Dont worry about the carbs and calories in vegetables. The fiber and other benefits seem to cancel out anything that you believe to be harmful about them. Dont let hippies guilt you into spending extra time and money you dont have to take regular trips to farmers markets as well as well as thinking you have to get into composting. Maybe youll be able to have a conscience about your veggies some day, but all of this is way better than your stupid Hot Pockets and toaster pastries you eat when you get home from a tough day at work. Try starting with a few favorite items until you can build on more varieties, and go easy on yourself because you can find easy ways to change habits like this. Have fun! Nom nom nom.
