MIMIKO APPOINT BURIAL TEAM Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, yesterday constituted an 11-man burial committee on the immediate past governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Agagu, who passed on last Friday. A statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade in Akure, the state capital, announced the appointment of, “a high-powered state committee in conjunction with the family of the deceased to plan a befitting state burial in honour of the late former governor.” It named the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Dr Kola Ademujimi, as the head of the committee with Mr Kayode Akinmade and Mrs Nike Ademujimi, both commissioners for Information and Commerce and Industry respectively, as members. Other members are Mr Nicolas Tofowomo, Commissioner for Transport, Jumoke Akindele, Soji Akinkurolire, Mr Eni Akinsola, Evangelist Niyi Pirisola, Mrs O O Ajayi and Mr Ife Fasoranti with Rev Soji Gbadebo as Secretary. The governor had, during a condolence visit to the Ikoyi, Lagos home of the deceased on Sunday, declared a seven-day mourning period, which commenced on Sunday. He, also ordered that a condolence register be opened at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka in Akure, the state’s liai,son offices in Lagos and Abuja and the headquarters of the 18 local government areas of the state. The governor also called on indigenes and residents of Ondo State to remember the Agagu family in their prayers.”
