# MISSION AD-MISSION # Miranda House, North Campus, University of Delhi SPECIAL NOTE: Miranda House is an Only Girls college. Location: Located in the North Campus of Delhi University, Miranda House is situated very close to the second gate of the campus and is easily noticeable by the blue sign boards at regular intervals. The nearest metro station is Vishwavidyalaya (Yes, the name of the station is because of the university and thus one can understand how famous and reputed the campus is) on the Yellow Line and is a minute walk from the main gate of the campus. There are hundreds of cycle rickshaws right at the gate of the university and outside every college within the North campus which charge you Rs. 10. The DTC bus frequency, especially for the North campus, is pretty awesome and drops you to the college gate at a mere cost of Rs. 10. Some prefer to come by their private vehicles while a few choose to walk to the college. In short, accessibility is not a problem and connectivity is superb. NOTE: There is a bicycle stand right outside the gate of the university which provides bicycles on a rental basis. The cost is Rs. 10 for four hours. Can’t expect anything cheaper than this! Infrastructure: Miranda House has a small campus with a decent amount of green cover. The college building looks like one from an ancient era but is still classy. The non air conditioned classrooms, library with air conditioner and availability of books and wifi connectivity makes the overall infrastructure modern yet average. There is a hostel facility within the campus which charges roughly Rs. 25,000/- per month. Faculty: The faculty at Miranda House is good. Teachers from the Arts department are pretty good and students rarely bunk their lectures. The teachers are quite co-operative and don’t throw any towering attitude towards students. All the teachers have sufficient years of experience in the field of education and conduct lectures purely in English. Crowd: As it a girls college, you can expect to see students from conservative background though exceptions are always there. Despite the college is under Delhi University, there are a healthy number of students from other parts of India. A few foreign students are also seen in Miranda House. Overall the crowd is quite friendly but not very happening. Hangouts: At the North campus, you can expect one of the best hangouts in Kamla Nagar Market. There are various coffee chains like CCD and Barista, several fresh fruit juice parlours, chole bhatures roadside and many more. The Ridge is generally jam packed with lovely couples of all the colleges within the campus. J.P tea stall at Delhi School of Economics (DSE) is also a common hangout for all the students. Movie lovers are seen in Plaza at Connaught Place (CP). Canteen: Well, the canteen is under construction but serves good food. Though variations aren’t much, the prices are pretty affordable. Festivals: Tempest, is the 3 day annual festival of Miranda House held around December, is a much-awaited event not just for Miranda House but for the entire university. Verdict: Not the best girls college in Delhi or India, Miranda House still has the legacy due its name, strategic location and years of establishment, and of course the highly illustrious alumni it has produced.
