MOBILE CIVIL REGITRATION PROJECT TO HELP 100,000 HAIYAN SURVIVORS RESTORE THEIR CIVIL DOCUMENTS: DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman is set to lead in the launching on April 7 of the Mobile Civil Registration Project that is envisioned to help Haiyan survivors restore their civil documents. Ms. Leslie Wright of UNDP informed the Philippine Information Agency said the launching which will be held at the Tierra de Milagros, Barangay Arado, Palo, Leyte will help about 100,000 typhoon Yolanda survivors restore their civil registration documents which were destroyed by the super typhoon. This project seeks to reach out residents in 18 towns and two cities in the provinces of Leyte, Samar, and Eastern Samar. Specifically, recipients are typhoon-displaced residents in Tacloban City, Palo, Tanauan, and Tolosa in eastern part of Leyte; Villaba, San Isidro, Tabango, Isabel, Matag-ob, and Ormoc City in northwestern part of Leyte; Basey and Marabut in Samar; Lawaan, Balangiga, Quinapondan, Giporlos, Guiuan, Salcedo, Mercedes, and Hernani in Eastern Samar. Technical assistance will be provided to local civil registrar of partner LGUs through the provision of computers, laptops, printers, copiers, and typewriters. IDEALS has recruited 200 community organizers to help LCR in conducting barangay-based registration. Through mobile registration, releasing of important documents can be done in the community level with beneficiaries claiming these documents for free.
