MORE WOLVES PLAYERS DROPPED: Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has been exiled from the club’s first-team squad along with £2m midfielder Tongo Doumbia and misfit defender Georg Margreitter. The trio have been told to train with fellow outcasts Roger Johnson, Jamie O’Hara and Stephen Ward – away from boss Kenny Jackett’s new-look main squad. The move is the latest sign of Jackett’s determination for a clean break from the side that suffered successive relegations from the Premier League to League One. Johnson, O’Hara and Ward have been training away from the first team since Jackett’s arrival. But £6.5m Doyle, who is a transfer target for Celtic, Doumbia, who cost £2m when he signed from Rennes, and Margreitter, who has made just one substitute appearance since signing from Austria Vienna last summer, have now been told to join the group. They have been instructed to report for training in the afternoon – after the rest of the senior players have left the Compton Park training ground. The trio are unlikely to figure at Preston tomorrow. Celtic have already made their move to sign Doyle, but Wolves are believed to be holding out for £2m. Jackett, meanwhile, today insisted midfielder David Davis is “not for sale” after reports linked him with a move to Blackburn. The 22-year-old, who has two years left on his contract, was named as a target for Rovers in a report yesterday after the Ewood Park club missed out on Villa midfielder Barry Bannan. Rovers are desperate to sign a central midfielder before Sunday’s big kick-off at Derby after the departure of Danny Murphy and former Wolves man David Jones – who was there on loan – and an injury to Lee Williamson. But Jackett said: “He’s not for sale. We’ve had no approach from Blackburn and I’ve got to be honest, we wouldn’t welcome any. “He’s been in the team and there’s every chance he’ll make the team against Preston tomorrow. I can assure Wolves supporters that there’s been no contact.” Jackett wanted to sign Davis for Millwall and believes the Smethwick-born ball-winner has much more to offer as he plays catch-up following his broken ankle suffered in April. “He’s shown glimpses of his best; I was very impressed with him when I saw him last season and I felt he was probably unlucky not to play more games,” said the boss. “Then he got injured when the season really builds up, where you can lose several players. He feels he should have played more games, but the periods he had in the side he showed a lot of promise.” Jackett revealed he and assistant head coach Joe Gallen are working hard to improve Davis’s game. “We’ve been working on his left foot because his passing there has to improve,” he said. England Under-21 international defender Jack Robinson has joined Blackpool from Liverpool on a season-long youth loan. He spent time on loan at Wolves last season.
