MU MAWULIRE ; Eastern Youth MP Peter Ogwang has defended the President for dishing out money in sacks saying it’s intended to hold those who receive it accountable. Ogwang while addressing the Press at parliament said most youth have been getting Money but it does not reach the intended beneficiary. He said the move by the President to deliver the money to the right people publicly has been politicized yet it’s intended to cure the Problem of corruption among youth leaders. Voters from Kibuku Constituency Kibuku District have Petitioned parliament seeking the removal of their Area MP Saleh Kamba from Parliament for absenteeism and non attendance. A Petition signed by over 1500 voters was presented to the office of the Speaker by their lead petitioner Pande Cephus guided by article 83(d) 1) of the constitution of Uganda. Panda said on a number of occasions Hon Kamba has dodged parliament for several months which they said has made Kibuku County and the electorates miss out on critical National matters which has made Kibuku excluded from National building. However when contacted Hon Kamba for a comment he said the petitioners are not his voters but are being engineered by Dr Byakatonda the husband of Jenifer Nyamiyango her Political rival. In an extra ordinary meeting held this afternoon in Kampala by the Uganda law society members and chaired by their president, the society has decide to suspend Peter Nyombi and also issue him with a certificate of incompetence within one week. Nyombi’s suspension comes after one Jude Mbabali petitioned the law society protesting the unprofessionalism exhibited by Hon. Peter Nyombi whilce advising govt and the president in particular siting incidents of the appointment of Gen Aronda, re-appointment of chief justice Benjamin Odoki among others.Cue.Suspension.Eng. Makerere university staffs who have been on strike for three weeks have unanimously agreed to suspend their strike and resume work. This after the university council agreed to fairly distribute the Top up allowance to each staff depending on their salaries from the internally generated funds as an incentive to encourage them to resume work as the council dialogues with government to find the 100% salary increment they are demanding. The Top up allowances have for long existed but unfairly paid to a few staff. According to a letter read to the staff during their assembly this evening by MUASA chairperson Dr. Muhamad Kigundu, the payment for this top up allowance shall be effected on 30th September and the arrears since the start of this financial year shall be paid after six months of reopening the university which they have welcomed.Cue.Top up.Eng&Lug. When paid this top up allowance, the highly paid university worker the Vice chancellor who has been getting Shs 4,184,800 Million will now get 7,114,100 million while the least paid worker who has been getting 248,700/= will now be paid 422,800/= Its against this that the staff during the assembly have all voted to resume work. According to MUASA chair Dr. Muhamad Kigundu has said that it’s now upon the university council to declare the university opens On behalf of the students, the students leaders Adeke Ana Ebaju has commended the staff for their decision to end the strike. Boda boda operators in Kampala and their counter parts from other districts are strongly opposed to the KCCA registration exercise of all boda cyclists operating in Kampala and have given the KCCA director guidelines to follow before they can willingly accept registering. Among the guidelines set include, having their association members directly involved in the body that was set up by the authority to man boda operations in the city warning that away from that no cyclists will stand in the lines to register.
