As a qualified and Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist I am often asked to deal with children’s problems - PICKY EATING - BEDWETTING - STOOL HOLDING - FEAR AND PHOBIAS, ANXIETY AND BAD HABITS are just a FEW!! But why does hypnosis work where other therapies and treatments perhaps have not? Janette Lawrence from London says: I spent three years taking my daughter from GP to speech therapist, from Psychologists to Psychiatrists because she was refusing to eat - not because she didnt want to - but because she COULDNT! She would gag or vomit and get really very upset if I tried to persuade her to try a new food. Someone finally recommended us to Elaine, at Focus4Kids Hypnotherapy. She explained that Cara was suffering from Selective Eating Disorder and Possibly Sensory Processing Disorder. I had never heard these terms before but what she was telling me just seemed to fit with what my daughter was like! She also explained that hypnosis is very powerful in changing the subconcious mind and her intention was to make suggestions into Caras mind that were positive ones about food. Cara had the first session and when we went home that evening she tried some ham and a small piece of a banana. She ate the ham but didn’t like the banana, however, for the first time in three years she didnt gag or vomit but calmly tried them! We were really impressed. Cara had three sessions in total and I can quite honestly say it was the best thing we ever did. She can still be a little fussy with mushy food but I would say she is 90% recovered now. I cant recommend Elaine enough. She even kept in contact with us well after the sessions were over to make sure Cara was doing ok! An exceptional therapist!
