MURTALA NYAKO MUST GO! The unique selling point (USP) of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency has been a marked characteristics not to use the awesome powers bestowed on the President of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian Constitution to obviate popular will and meddle into political activities of the constituting States of the Nigerian contraption – allowing election results to stand (even where his political party lost out); non-interference in the judicial processes (unlike one of his predecessors in office who actually often re-interpreted Supreme Court decisions to suit his fancy). It is in the light of the foregoing that President Jonathan must totally discountenance and repulse efforts by former dictators, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar, seeking for the President to interfere in the ongoing impeachment processes initiated by the Adamawa State House of Assembly against estranged Governor Murtala Nyako. The characters now seeking your interference failed to caution Mr. Nyako when he was busy stoking the embers of violence and hatred across the country. The President must allow the people of Adamawa State, through their duly elected representatives in the House of Assembly, finish off what they have rightfully started – the impeachment of a character who has repeatedly been implicated as an instigator, supporter and financier of terror and who most recently crafted a most sinister widely-publicized correspondence aimed at inciting inter-ethnic and inter-regional hatred and conflict in Nigeria. Mr. President, interfere in the process and you lose one of the few positive character traits identified with your administration, an act tantamount to political suicide.
