MY CHALLENGE: Every year at this time I get that same feeling - TopicsExpress

MY CHALLENGE: Every year at this time I get that same feeling of helplessness about Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. Oh, I’m aware that kids get cancer, and I’m sure that all my 688 friends on Facebook are aware that kids get cancer. In fact, probably everyone that I meet, even if for just one day, is aware that I lost a child to cancer. We “go gold” for the month and we post heart-wrenching pictures and videos of our kids. Yet, I always have that nagging question, “Are we really making a difference?” Are we really making any more steps towards a cure? I wish I had thought of the ice bucket challenge for pediatric cancer, but I didn’t. I wish I had thought of ANYTHING that might help us get closer to a cure. We can say, Fight like a kid, Im in their corner or Everyone deserves a chance to grow up or Kids get cancer too - and all of that is true, but I feel like all that does is drum up sympathy. So I decided that this month, instead of all the pictures and videos that tug at our hearts, I’m going to post places, charities, and organizations that we can donate to or buy from in order to do our part in helping us get closer to that cure. I challenge each of my friends to pick one or two places that you can donate to or buy from - to try to make a difference. Lets take our sympathy one more step!! When you do, leave me a note in the comments. (NOTE to my BT friends - I’m not sure I know of 30 places to donate to or buy from, so feel free to PM any suggestions).
