MY RESPONSE TO A YOUTUBE VIDEO ON WHY BLACK PEOPLES EXPERIENCES MAKE THEM UNIQUE FROM OTHER MINORITY POPULATIONS. This video on the YouTube channel of a young Black man gave the following critique of Black people. I will not attempt to cover his arguments comprehensively, but by the time Im finished, hopefully you will get the gist. He was young, reasonably well read and articulate. He seemed to be expressing his frustration for why Black people and no other minorities required a Civil Rights Act, Affirmative Action, school integration laws and for Gods sake, WHY are so many of us Democrats!?! Didnt we know the KKK was created by Democrats? The Asians and Latinos dont require Affirmative Action. They didnt require a voting rights act. They didnt require school integration. He held forth at some length on these topics. Im certain at the end of his screed, Black Republicans and the folks over at Fox News would have given him a standing ovation! As is so often the case, these positions are held by people who simply do NOT KNOW history... in particular, THEIR OWN! There was a time when the Republican party fully supported labor unions. Not today. There was a time when Republicans supported equality under the law for ALL races. Not today. There was a time when Republicans would have defunded and prevented the militarization of police departments. Not today. So, what happened? To understand the 180 shift in the positions of the Parties, you need to research the Dixiecrat revolution. Almost 60 years ago, a number of Southern Democrats, Strom Thurmond was in the thick of things, became Republican and began to change the Party from within. When LBJ - Lyndon Baines Johnson - signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 he reportedly said, We may have just lost the South for the next 20 years. He may have been a bit optimistic. Southerners did not like the ending of Jim Crow laws, integration and they switched to the Republican party in droves. This is merely an extremely broad highlight of why the parties are like they are today. Black people like everybody else, tend to support whichever party seems to have their best interests at heart. It is not a historical philosophy, it is a current pragmatism. The questions of WHY Black people require Affirmative Action and all the other issues he raised may be best illustrated by this brief excerpt from the desk of J. Edgar Hoover outlining his Counter Intelligence Program better known as COINTELPRO. PERSONAL ATTENTION TO ALL OFFICES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [From] Director, FBI COUNTERINTELLIGENCE PROGRAM BLACK NATIONALIST - HATE GROUPS INTERNAL SECURITY GOALS ~~~~~ For maximum effectiveness of the Counterintelligence Program, and to prevent wasted effort, long-range goals are being set. 1. Prevent the COALITION of militant black nationalist groups. In unity there is strength; a truism that is no less valid for all its triteness. An effective coalition of black nationalist groups might be the first step toward a real Mau Mau [Black revolutionary army] in America, the beginning of a true black revolution. 2. Prevent the RISE OF A MESSIAH who could unify, and electrify, the militant black nationalist movement. Malcolm X might have been such a messiah; he is the martyr of the movement today. Martin Luther King, Stokely Carmichael and Elijah Muhammed all aspire to this position. Elijah Muhammed is less of a threat because of his age. King could be a very real contender for this position should he abandon his supposed obedience to white, liberal doctrines (nonviolence) and embrace black nationalism. Carmichael has the necessary charisma to be a real threat in this way. 3. Prevent VIOLENCE on the part of black nationalist groups. This is of primary importance, and is, of course, a goal of our investigative activity; it should also be a goal of the Counterintelligence Program to pinpoint potential troublemakers and neutralize them before they exercise their potential for violence. 4. Prevent militant black nationalist groups and leaders from gaining RESPECTABILITY, by discrediting them to three separate segments of the community. The goal of discrediting black nationalists must be handled tactically in three ways. You must discredit those groups and individuals to, first, the responsible Negro community. Second, they must be discredited to the white community, both the responsible community and to liberals who have vestiges of sympathy for militant black nationalist [sic] simply because they are Negroes. Third, these groups must be discredited in the eyes of Negro radicals, the followers of the movement. This last area requires entirely different tactics from the first two. Publicity about violent tendencies and radical statements merely enhances black nationalists to the last group; it adds respectability in a different way. 5. A final goal should be to prevent the long-range GROWTH of militant black organizations, especially among youth. Specific tactics to prevent these groups from converting young people must be developed. [...] TARGETS ~~~~~~~ Primary targets of the Counterintelligence Program, Black Nationalist-Hate Groups, should be the most violent and radical groups and their leaders. We should emphasize those leaders and organizations that are nationwide in scope and are most capable of disrupting this country. These targets, members, and followers of the: Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM) NATION OF ISLAM (NOI) [emphasis added] Offices handling these cases and those of Stokely Carmichael of SNCC, H. Rap Brown of SNCC, Martin Luther King of SCLC, Maxwell Stanford of RAM, and Elijah Muhammed of NOI, should be alert for counterintelligence suggestions. It was even less so back then. To put this is context, Fidel Castro had just made Cuba the ONLY Communist Country in the Western Hemisphere. Mao was the leader of Communist China. There are NO documented programs that Im aware of targeting Latinos in this Country. No fear they will bring a Communist revolution to our shores, even though 60 miles off the tip of Florida, exists a Latino Communist nation. NO documented programs that Im aware of targeting our Chinese community to make sure they werent forming alliances with Communist China. We KNOW our government was concerned with Communism because we were in the middle of The Cold War. What were they afraid of? Who were they spending money and resources to infiltrate, disrupt and assassinate? Black Nationalist organizations. Why? They referred to them as hate groups. Thats a loaded term. When certain white people discover that Black people dont *like* them it seems to really bother them. Not enough for them to change their behavior... Perhaps we should define what Black Nationalism is? Black nationalism (BN) advocates a racial definition (or redefinition) of national identity. There are different indigenous nationalist philosophies but the principles of all Black nationalist ideologies are unity and self-determination—that is, separation, or independence, from European society. Martin Delany (1812-1885), an African-American abolitionist, is considered to be the grandfather of Black nationalism. Considering that back then... HELL, even today, many white people would actually prefer a separation of the races, one must ask, whats the big deal? Thus my response to the young man who posed these questions on his YouTube channel is, go back and READ some more. Black people - for some reason - terrify certain white people... Even more than Communism does. They have dedicated untold man hours and billions in resources to control and destroy a people who have never done anything to them. What needs to be studied are the reasons for their Negrophobia. It is a mental disease that will eventually destroy them.
