**MY RESPONSE TO AN EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM A GIRL STRUGGLING WITH WHAT THE FITNESS INDUSTRY IS SAYING** So sorry it took a while for me to get back to you. Upon reading your message last night I needed to take a minute before I responded. What youre asking is something I want to carefully consider because from the sounds of it...youre in a super crucial time. The first thing that has jumped out at me are these sentences He eventually convinced me to pose a few shots and I have set boundaries, and he understands MOST of them. Let me tell you the beautiful thing about you but also the thing that you need to truly protect. You are a very trusting girl...and many men in the industry will offer you the world, all sorts of promise and in the end they have absolutely no scope of the implications of their guidance. There needs to be a decision made in your own mind about the legacy you want to leave on this planet. Do you want to do this as a bikini model? Or as a beautifully strong girl that despite her size...is capable of incredible things...with from the sounds of it- and INCREDIBLE singing voice. Watching yourself go down a road of seductive photos, gaining response and ultimately never being able to get these images off of the internet is a HUGE choice to be making at your age (although I know you are beyond your years). Without trying to convince you in either direction let me just tell you a few facts: -Bikini Competitors (even sponsored ones) do not make enough money to live on in most cases. -Most shoots they do are for trade. -Fitness Cover models make only a couple hundred dollars to be on a cover. -Popularity from posing provocatively or wearing underwear is largely because of men and these images do not inspire the type of women that really need it. This is what I know to be true. We are all given a specific purpose in life. If I could take stab at yours...Im almost positive it has to do with what an incredible singer you are. The thing about having a powerful purpose- is the powerful opposition. Anything that can distract you will try. Only the strong will be able to stand up to these things and stay on the track they are intended for. I have just now stepped into the purpose I was intended for and it was an all out war to get here. I am not saying your journey to competing is a distraction. Your passion for fitness is a part of you and this should be expressed in any way that you believe represents who you are. Seductive photos will not help you get sponsored. You have a real chance to do wholesome commercial print modeling that can make you legitimate money...and if you embark down the dark road of glamour I fear you will never get out. Your body is something you should be protecting with your life. It should be a privilege that few have to see it in certain ways... I see such immense promise in you and truly hope that if you EVER need help or advice that youll let me know. Amber
